RESEARCH PROJECTS

Clinical and translational research activity is focused on: i) development and clinical validation of novel molecular, serological and immunological assays for diagnosis and monitoring of viral diseases; ii) study of pathogenetic aspects of viral infections during pregnancy and identification of prognostic parameters; iii) study of pathogenesis of viral opportunistic infections in immunocompromised individuals and identification of markers of disease risk and progression; iv) molecular epidemiology of emerging (Arboviruses, Picornaviruses, HEV etc.), re-emerging (rubella, measles etc.) and respiratory (Influenzaviruses, Coronaviruses, Picornaviruses, Paramixoviruses etc.) viral infections; v) pathogenesis of virus-related tumors; vi) molecular mechanisms of bacterial and viral drug-resistance; vii) antimicrobial stewardship and molecular surveillance of multi drug resistant microorganisms.
